Getting Banned if You’re Caught
Many people believe that card counting is cheating and therefore, illegal. This isn’t the case. Card counting is a skill that few people can master, and criminalizing it would essentially make it illegal to think while playing (not a very reasonable expectation).
Casinos don’t necessarily care if you try counting cards either. However, they do care if you are successful at it. For example, card counting may not be as effective if you are playing Spanish 21 blackjack, since players have a number of unique options (like being able to split up to four hands and trying to match the dealer). Other strategies may prove to be more effective, which is why few card counters consider playing Spanish 21. It could still work with a smaller deck, but it’s not usually recommended for new card counters.
What is the Best Card Counting System?
There are a few different systems for counting cards. One of the systems that is easiest to pick up on is known as the Hi-Lo Count. The Wizard of Odds provided a great tutorial on it. Here’s a quick overview:
The goal of the Hi-Lo Count approach is calculate a variable called the “true count.” Your true count is a guide to help you adjust your bets. Here are the steps to calculate it:
*You start off with a running count, which is initially set at 0.
*Every time a new card is played by the dealer, you need to adjust it incrementally. If the new card is anything from a 2 to a 6, then you add one to your true count total. If it is a 10 or a face card, then you subtract one from your total. Other cards don’t have an impact on it.
*Divide your running count by the number of decks in play.
You’ll want to raise your bet as your true count increases. How much should you raise it by? It’s pretty subjective. A lot of classic books on card counting have some very strict formulas for it, but you should probably refrain from using them. Casino managers are familiar with them and can catch on quickly if you’re using a common card counting practice. You’re better off finding your own method and sticking to it.

That said, casinos do everything in their power to stop card counters. The goal is to catch advantage players in the act and potentially ban them.
At the least, gambling establishments want to throw counters off their game and make them uncomfortable.
But what are the methods that casinos use to accomplish these goals? I’m going to discuss multiple techniques that they use to hamper card counters.Feature Unfavorable Rules
Casinos were mostly unaware of card counting in blackjack up until the early 1960s. Edward Thorp changed this, though, with his 1961 book Beat The Dealer.
In this work, Thorp discussed how he used card counting to beat the casino and win profits. Since then, gambling venues have instated unfavorable rules to make counting less profitable.Most games today now feature shoes with multiple decks. This is a change from Thorp’s days when most blackjack tables were the single deck variety.
Many tables also feature 6-to-5 natural blackjack payouts, rather than 3-to-2 payouts. This single change increases the house edge by 1.4%.
Specific tables also allow the dealer to hit a soft 17. This rule boosts the house edge by 0.2% because it helps dealers improve their soft hands.
Casinos also reshuffle the shoe frequently to prevent more deck penetration. Advantage players can’t have as much confidence in their count with less than 70% penetration.Watch for Big Bet Spreads
Once an advantage player detects a positive account, they need to raise their bets to capitalize on the situation. This is especially true when there’s more penetration in the shoe.
The distance between the table’s minimum wager and the player’s max bet during a favorable count is known as the “bet spread.”
Here’s how this works:
*The table’s minimum bet is $5.
*A player raises their wager to $75.
*75/5 = 15
*Their spread is 1-15.
Ideally, card counters would be able to spread their wagers from 1-15 or higher. Many casinos are fully aware of this tactic.
Therefore, one of the first things that a pit boss looks for when identifying a counter is their bet spread. A player who suddenly goes from the minimum bet to 15x this size is a dead giveaway.
Some casinos are more lenient when regarding bet spreads. However, they all have their limits and will begin scrutinizing anybody who has a large spread.Looking for Players Who Make Big Buy-ins
The best card counters only have around a 1% advantage. With such a small edge, they’ll have almost as many losing nights as winning evenings.They need a large bankroll to counteract the ups and downs of card counting. That said, the best counters will buy into a game for thousands of dollars.
Such a move won’t draw much attention at a high-stakes table. But it does raise eyebrows at low-stakes tables, which offer the low minimum bets that help counters minimize losses in unfavorable situations.Backing Off Counters
“Backing off” card counters refers to the measures that casinos use to get into advantage players’ heads.
For example, the pit boss may watch a particular player while they’re gambling. They’re not only trying to observe if the player is a counter, but also make them uncomfortable.
The pit boss may take this even further by coming over to the table and standing near the advantage gambler. They might pretend like they’re just stopping by to chat with the dealer, but they’re really trying to back off the potential counter.
Another thing that pit bosses do is ask the dealer to shuffle the shoe more frequently. This accomplishes two things:
*Reduces deck penetration.
*It lets the player know that the casino may be on to them.Use a Continuous Shuffling Machine
A continuous shuffling machine (CSM) allows the dealer to return used cards to the shoe. This device keeps shuffling the cards, meaning there’s no interruption in play.
CSMs make card counting virtually impossible because they minimize deck penetration. Adept counters will avoid these tables altogether.Ban Wonging
Famed gambling author Stanford Wong popularized a technique known as back counting, or “wonging.” Back counting is the process of standing off to the side of a table and counting cards.
The goal is to determine when there’s a positive count and then sit to play at this point. The player can then began making big wagers right away.How Do Casinos Catch Card Counters Without
Wonging has a distinct advantage over traditional card counting because players don’t have to sit in during unprofitable points. Instead, they immediately have an advantage when they begin playing.
The only problem is that almost every casino has banned wonging. Such games have signs that state “no mid-shoe entry.”
These signs refer to how one must wait until a shoe is reshuffled before they can sit down.Watch for Spotters & Big Players
If you’ve seen the movie 21, you may be aware of how the “big player” concept works. It involves spotters spreading out to different tables and playing games at the minimum bet.
The spotter’s job is to count cards until they determine a favorable count. They’ll secretly signal the “big player” to come to the table.
As for the big player, they sit down to the table and immediately begin placing large bets. Given that the big player places large wagers right away, they merely look like a high roller.This strategy allows a card counting team to better camouflage their efforts. As long as the spotters can discreetly signal the big player, then the team has a good chance of counting without being caught.
Another advantage is that the team can cover multiple tables while looking for positive counts. The big player, meanwhile, can pick up their chips and move to a different table than the one they’re at when the count goes cold.
Of course, even the most skilled card counting teams can attract the pit boss’ attention eventually. Their signals could be a dead giveaway, as can the big player moving from table to table.Keep a Database of Advantage Players
For the past few decades, casinos have been keeping detailed records of blackjack players. Some even subscribe to third-party databases that collect information on advantage players.
Griffin Investigations is/was the best-known example of a third-party service. They gained fame for taking down the MIT Blackjack Team.
Griffin was later sued by James Grosjean, though, and went bankrupt as a result. But there are other agencies, such as Biometrica and Oregon Surveillance Network (OSN), that carry on this work.
Any player covered in these databases will have a difficult time finding a game. Casinos that identify them will undoubtedly ask such players to leave.Watching for Unusual Strategy Plays
Skilled card counters sometimes make unusual plays from a strategy perspective. Based on their count, they know when to deviate from basic strategy to maximize their return.
Here are examples of “bad” plays that card counters make:
*Splitting 10s.
*Standing on 15 or 16.
*Doubling down on a soft 19 or 20.
Dealers will often notify the pit boss if they see such plays. After all, most gamblers that play blackjack with real money are adept enough to avoid making these mistakes.
If a counter is good enough at camouflaging themselves, they may be able to get away with such decisions. Another crucial step is to pick the right tables. You’re unlikely to find any quality single-deck games where the pit boss won’t back off any suspected card counters.
But you at least want to find a table with 3:2 natural payouts. After all, you can’t make much, if any, money when counting at a table with 6:5 payouts.
Blending in is yet another essential aspect of card counting. You should spend time observing how regular players dress and act, then try emulating them while card counting.
Of course, first thing’s first: you need to master counting amid all of the casino distractions. Once you get this down, then you can start worrying about evading the casino’s watchful eye.

Pocket queens and ace king are two hands with very similar equity. As a result of the similar equity, players often find themselves in situations where they are unsure what to do when holding QQ or AK. There will be a number of spots where your opponent too could be holding either AK or QQ.
As a general rule of thumb, it is better to have QQ than it is to have AK. If you happen to run up against AA or KK when holding AK, you don’t have the greatest of odds. Now, if you have QQ against AA or KK, you are still a sizable underdog, but catching up is within the realm of possibilities.
The true dilemmas with these two hands is almost always found pre flop. These are the borderline hands where it could be ok to go all in, but it could also be ok to fold against some major pressure. The real action, though, will come after your initial raise. If the other players simply call your raise or elect to fold and get out of the way, there isn’t a lot of thinking required on your end. When you get re raised, however, it can be quite difficult to accurately determine what the best play is.
On one hand you have pocket queens, a very strong hand, but on the other hand you will be crushed by AA or KK and are chopping the pot with AK. You need to then decide whether your opponent would re raise with nothing or a hand that you just barely have beat.
There is a very legitimate chance that a player who has position will either make a light three bet or raise your bet with a hand like TT or JJ. Your job is to identify whether you are likely ahead or behind and how you should play the remainder of the hand. Online blackjack odds. The problem with this, though, is that you will often force a fold from the only hands that will three bet you yet still be behind pocket queens. In addition to this is the fact that you will now struggle to extract value from your once strong pocket pair. As you can see, there truly are never ending land mines with pocket queens. Though this example used QQ as the pre flop hand, the similarities between QQ and AK are evidenced in that AK would be played almost the exact same way. Your approach with QQ and AK should seldom be different and you will always need to adjust to the exact circumstances.Fold Equity
QQ and AK are typically worthy of some big pre flop action regardless of whether or not you end up going all in. If you do decide to go all in pre flop, try to ensure that you are putting in the last bet. The odds of profitability increase dramatically with QQ or AK when you are the one placing the last bet or raise vs. calling the last bet or raise. The reason for this is because you will be able to force folds on occasion.
When this happens you will be able to take down the pot without any need to see the board. Beyond this, when you are the last player to make a bet you will get more calls from weaker hands. It is rare for a player to call off their stack with AK or QQ and have someone completely dominated, though it certainly does happen. He said that youth are wasting their money and time (in betting) instead of developing themselves.”
Kasaija’s argument to ban all foreign betting companies is that they repatriate a lot of money in dollars, leaving Uganda’s economy shrinking yet if such dollars are invested in the Uganda’s economy, there will be more progress.
“Our youth struggle to work, in farms and building sites, but the money is taken betting companies. When this ‘Mr Betting’ receives the money, he changes this money into dollars and takes it out, leaving us empty. Conformation is the physical appearance of an animal due to the arrangement of muscle, bone and other body tissue. It is the sum of these body parts and how they blend together which determines the acceptability or unacceptability of the horse’s conformation. Good conformation is the overall blending of body parts to form a beautiful athlete.
No horse is conformed perfectly. Remember that in examining horses the purpose is to exclude those with physical faults you consider unacceptable.

Overall, when examining a horse you should consider balance, bone, intelligence and athleticism.
Balance – Is the horse well-proportioned? Does the frame suit its muscle?
Bone – Does it appear to be substantial – not too light?
Intelligence – Does the horse seem in control, aware of its surroundings, alert?
Athleticism – Does the horse look physically fit and capable?
Remember, every horse has some fault with regard to pedigree and conformation. The art or science of evaluating a horse is deciding which of those faults are less likely to adversely impact the intended use of the animal. It is helpful to know something about the pedigree of the horse as it may relate to a particular horse’s conformation. Some sires pass similar conformational faults to offspring, with some of the faults having little or no consequence with respect to their racing success.
Everyone has different thresholds with regard to what constitutes acceptable faults. Establish your own thresholds, but be realistic considering your budget.Conformation Essentials: Side View
Feet – A horse’s hooves must be able to withstand a great deal of pressure. At full speed, a 500kg thoroughbred will place the equivalent of 100 times the force of gravity on each hoof with every stride, so it is essential that the foot be shaped properly to withstand this concussion and to dissipate the shock of impact. Consider the proportion, substance and size of the hoof. The underside of the hoof should have a round, slightly oval shape, with some depth.
Pasterns – The pastern should be at a 45-degree angle (example A; example B shows a too-sloping pastern; example C shows a too-upright pastern). Its length should be proportionate; too long a pastern could indicate weakness and tendon strain, while if too short it may absorb too much concussion, thus stressing the bone structure.
Cannon bones – Ideally, the cannon bone should be short, strong, and have mass. The cannon bone bears the most weight of any bone in a horse’s body. The bone should exit the lower knee or hock cleanly and be well-centred.
Knee – Bones in and leading to the knee should line up in a balanced manner; not tilting forward (“over at the knee” or “buck-kneed”) or back (“back at the knee” or “calf-kneed”), nor severely offset to one side or the other.
Shoulder – The shoulder should have the same slope or angle as the pastern (see diagram below). The ideal slope of the shoulder is approximately 45 to 50 degrees. In general, the angle of the pastern will correspond with the angle of the shoulder. Stride length is largely determined by the conformation of the shoulder. The straighter the shoulder, the shorter the stride. Also, a straight shoulder absorbs concussion instead of dispensing it and will put stress on the bones of the leg and shoulder.
Neck – A horse’s neck should be sufficient in scope to provide adequate wind for the horse and be well tied in at the withers. A horse with a well-muscled, well-proportioned neck has a longer, more rhythmic stride and can more easily maintain its balance when running. An easy, rhythmic stride will cause less fatigue while racing. Fatigue can decrease the performance and increase the chances of injury. In short, does the neck fit the rest of the body?
Head – The head should be broad enough to permit adequate air passage. What is over and under in football betting. Generally, the width at the back of the jaw should be about the size of a fist. Nostrils should be of adequate size. People refer to an “attractive” head. That usually means the head is short, with well-set ears; has large bold eyes, a short distance from eye to muzzle, large nostrils and a refined muzzle with a shallow mouth. In general, there is no physiological benefit to the horse having an “attractive” head. An “ugly” head functions similarly to an attractive head.
Eye – The eyes should be big and bright. Look for an intelligent, keen eye. A horse with a lot of white around the eye is often nervous and flighty.
Back – The distance from the withers to top of croup or hips should match the length of the horse’s neck from the poll to the withers. The length of the back is directly related to the slope of shoulder. The steeper the shoulder, the longer the back. A horse with a long back is usually not as well balanced as a short-backed horse.
Hips/Rump – The croup or hip should have a gentle slope; not too steep or flat – and good width. The gaskins should depict strength and should complement the muscles of the rump.
Hocks – A Bloodstock horse’s hocks should not be straight as a post, nor curved so deeply as to be “sickle-hocked,” but somewhere in between. Ideally, if you dropped an imaginary line from the point of the buttocks to the ground, it should run parallel to the cannon bone and be slightly behind the heel.Conformation Essentials: Front & Rear View
Feet – Look for balanced feet on both sides, or symmetry. Avoid misshaped, dished or badly cracked feet.
Cannon bones – From the front, the cannon bones should appear straight and be of the same length. Keep an eye out for splints under the knee, on the front of the cannon bones. Example (A) shows a bow-legged horse, example (B) a knock-kneed horse, and example (C) shows offset or bench knees.
Knees – It is best if the knees are set squarely on top of the cannon bones, not off to one side or another: “Offset knees.”
Chest – A horse’s chest should be broad and appear powerful. Narrow chested or slab-sided horses are said to lack power.
Shoulder – Look for balance, symmetry and good muscling. A straight line from the point of the shoulder should bisect the entire front leg all the way to the toe. Also, the width of the toes on the ground should be the same width as their origin in the chest.
Hocks – From the rear, the hocks should appear to point straight at you and not turn in – “cow hocks” or turn out – “open in the hocks” or “bow-legged.” Ideally, an imaginary line from the point of the buttocks to the ground should bisect the gaskin, hock and hoof. Coushatta poker room.

Front/Rear view – The horse should move straight toward and away from you. Observe whether the horse toes-in or toes-out as it walks. In example B, a horse who toes out will have a tendency to “wing in,” increasing the likelihood that the swinging leg will strike the supporting leg during the stride. In example C, a horse who toes in has a tendency to “wing out” or “paddle, increasing stress on the outside of the limbs.
Side view – Check for the overstep, meaning do the hind feet reach beyond the front hoof prints? Observe the horse’s head. Be certain it does not bob unusually when walking, as this may indicate soreness or lameness.
Walk – Look for a smooth, long stride. Avoid horses that walk “wide” in front.Find the perfect conformation and start racing!

A guest lighting candles is allegedly to blame for Saturday night’s fire at the Cosmopolitan Las Vegas. Smoke was initially reported coming from the 51st floor of the tower just before 8:00 PM.

Here, I’ll go beyond this general NFL betting strategy and provide the following details specific to over/under betting:

Let’s get started by talking about what an over/under bet is, and how the line works.How Does a Total Score Over/Under Bet Work?
In my experience, over/under betting is one of the most common and enjoyable ways to gamble on the outcome of an NFL game. Across the nation and across the world, people tune in to NFL games – especially during the fourth quarter – to see whether their over/under bet will pay out.
A total score over/under bet is simply a wager placed on how high the combined score will be between the two teams. To explain, let’s take a look at some specific examples:
These examples come from the Wild Card round of the 2016/17 NFL playoffs: There were 8 games on national TV the weekend of January 7-8, and the gambling public was out in full force to stake their claim on one team or another to win, to cover the spread, or to push the total score one way or another.
These were the available total score over/under bets:

When I put up these sample over/under bets, a couple things become immediately apparent. First off, we notice that different from moneyline bets and spread bets, an over/under bet is a bet on one side of a line, not on an individual team. You can bet the over, or the under, but you can’t bet on one team or the other.
The other thing that you’ll notice is that there are odds attached to each outcome – each over or under. This reflects the golden rule of sports gambling: The goal of odds-makers is always to promote even action on both sides of a wager. Changing the odds to make wagers more or less profitable to gamblers is the way that odds-makers prompt even action on both sides of an over/under bet.
The four games listed above also demonstrate the usual range of over/under odds. In contrast with moneyline odds (which vary widely) and ATS odds (which will often go up to +/- 150), over/under odds do not vary much. Having 75% or more of the games show -110 on both sides is a pretty standard proportion.
And in these examples, the total score lines themselves (which a gambler may go over or under) are also very standard. If the distribution of total score over/under lines was a normal curve, then it’s likely the bulge of the bell would fall around the range of 42 to 47 – this is the range of lines that you will most often see for most NFL games.
Let’s think about what this means in practice. If a game has a total score of 42 points, this means that – on average – both teams contributed 21 points to the total score. This means the equivalent of three touchdowns per team, or six touchdowns total over the course of the game.
For a 60-minute game, this in turn means a touchdown for every 10 minutes of game time: Touchdown #1 on a team’s opening drive. Touchdown #2 with 3 minutes left in the first quarter. Touchdown #3 with 4 minutes left in the half. Touchdown #4 midway through the third quarter. Touchdown #5 with 10 minutes left in the game. And Touchdown #6 on the game’s final drive, within the two-minute warning.
Now, do all NFL games play out this way? Of course not. Not by a long shot. But the reason I give this simplified example is just to make the total score a little more tangible. Thinking about a 42-point total score over/under is a little hard to grasp at first. But when you break it down in the context of a real game, it becomes much more clear how to diagnose what a line means and what type of a game would provoke such a scoring pattern.
With this basic idea of how over/under bets work, let’s now look at when you should place an over/under bet, which is tantamount to knowing whether the odds offer good value.When Should You Place an Over/Under Bet?
For some reason, NFL gamblers that are particularly keen on using hard statistics to decide when to place a wager seem to gravitate towards over/under betting. So to provide some hard statistics to this conversation, I would simply offer the numbers that I’ve assembled in my 15+ years of NFL gambling.
While it’s not profitable to look back too far into the past (as the NFL has changed dramatically over its history, and the introduction and widespread adoption of the West Coast offense has recently changed the landscape of scoring in the league), limiting our target range to the last 15 years of regular season and playoff football gives us plenty of data to play with – over 7500 games-worth, to be exact.
Over this span of time, the limits for total score lines have become fixed at 30 (for the lowest) and 60 (for the highest). Of course, just because odds-makers don’t post lines lower than 30 or higher than 60 doesn’t mean that games don’t end below or above these bookends. According to my data, roughly 1 in 7 games end up with a total score below 30, and roughly 1 in 8 games end up with a total score above 60.
It’s extremely important to keep in mind, however, that there is no magic statistical formula that will tell you whether or not a game will go over or under. There are a host of systems out there – like betting the under in divisional games and the over in non-conference games, betting the over if the game gets to 41 or 42 or 44 total points, betting the over in games played in below-freezing temperatures, and any number of others.
But once again, statistical systems must be taken with a grain of salt. During these same 15 years, during which so much statistical knowledge has become available about when to bet the over and when to bet the under, the actual record has remained almost exactly 50–50. As in all types of betting, the house will end up making sure that the odds even out.
This is why prudent over/under bets require an understanding of value. Value betting is generally defined as wagering only in situations when you feel very confident about what the outcome of a wager will be (i.e. you feel there is low risk) while at the same time you feel that the odds for a particular wager hold the potential for a nice payoff (i.e. you feel there is high reward).
The betting systems mentioned above are after precisely this type of value, albeit in a slightly misguided way. When a betting system points out some statistical anomaly about how often a particular set of situations has prompted a winning over or an under, it’s useful to note the conditions they reference, but this doesn’t mean you should take what they’re saying as law. Consistently finding value requires combining together a large number of different betting systems with a large number of situational factors.
Now at this point, you might be asking: But what are these factors? How do I know if I’m getting good value? The short and honest response is that I can’t possibly explain this to you in words, especially not in the course of one short page. Like I said above, there is no specific magic formula for you to follow, and if someone tells you that there is, they’re probably going to ask for your credit card information next. It takes skill, experience, and a certain amount of feel to find value, and this takes time to develop.
Having said this, I don’t want you to think that there’s nothing you can do to start making good value decisions, and learning for yourself how to make this a profitable part of your gambling repertoire. In the next section, I’ll dive into the specifics of finding good value for total score over/under bets.How Do You Make Money with Over/Under Betting?
As I just stated, and as I explain in detail in my general NFL Betting Strategy page, NFL gambling is a skill, and it takes practice. Like any other skill, it takes time and effort to develop the intuition that makes you proficient and profitable. I’ve been employed for 15+ years as an NFL gambler, and one of the ways that I’ve been able to pull it off it by understanding that it’s not a get-rich-quick scheme. It’s more like a job.
With total score over/under betting, the single most important factor involved in making money in the long-run is being smarter and more disciplined at wagering only on good value bets. This is a skill that you will get better at the more often you do it. As you place more wagers, you’ll develop a feel for when there is good value to be found in a particular bet.
Don’t let yourself be suckered in by touts and sharps that will try to convince you that there is some set of numbers, some statistical formula, or some software package that will do the work for you to determine whether you should bet the over or the under, and is guaranteed to make you money 100% of the time.
(Even if they advertise something more realistic – which is to say, something closer to being correct 60% of the time – I would still turn tail and run as soon as they want you to whip out a credit card and pay them five easy payments of whatever.)
In total score over/under betting, there is no substitute for visualizing the entire game in your own mind. You need to actually count up – point by point, quarter by quarter, drive by drive, possession by possession – which team is going to score how many points when and why (take a look at my general NFL Strategy page for more info on this). Do this before you even look at the line, and you’ll have a baseline opinion to compare against.
Next, when you look at the line, make careful note of how different your personal decision on the total score is from the decision that odds-makers framed for the gambling public. You could be dead on (in which case, you’re probably right but there probably isn’t value) or you could be way off (in which case, you’re either right, and there is value, or you’re wrong).
Once again, there’s no exact science to knowing whether or not you are right (and the odds are different) or you are wrong (and the odds were right). The most honest thing I can tell you is this: the key to a good value bet is when you feel certain of a given outcome, while the gambling public and/or the odds-maker feels differently.
For me, I’ve come to a pretty good understanding with myself about when I’m probably stumbling into a good value bet and when I’m probably deluding myself. This isn’t something that I know factually, using statistics or logic, it’s just a feeling I have through years of experience. This is precisely the type of intuition that you can develop with enough time and practice.
Trust your gut, learn from your mistakes, and you’ll be well on your way to becoming a profitable NFL gambler.Summary: NFL Over/Under Betting Strategy
Total score over/under betting is one of the three most popular NFL bets. The concept is quite simple: In a total score over/under bet, you pick how many combined points will be scored in a game between the two teams. More than almost any other type of NFL betting, over/under bets require an in-depth prediction for how the game will play out, for which I employ my three-stage NFL betting strategy.
Here’s an example from the Wild Card round of the 2016/17 NFL playoffs: New York Giants @ Green Bay Packers: Over 44.5 (-115), Under 44.5 (-105). Notice that an over/under bet is a bet on one side of a line, not on an individual team. Also, notice that there are odds attached to each outcome – each over or under. This is the way that odds-makers prompt even action on both sides of an over/under bet.
The odds for total score over/under wagers are pretty staid: you’ll often see odds of -110 on both sides of a significant proportion of the available total score bets. Most lines fall in the range of 42 to 47, with odds-makers never setting a line below 30 or above 60. However, the actual total score of games often falls below 30 or above 60, even though odds-makers don’t set lines in this range.
A key strategy for understanding the line is to visualize how a game might play out to yield that total score. For example, a typical line of 42 could mean 21 points per side, 3 touchdowns per team, which means 6 total touchdowns in a game. Six touchdowns spread over a 60-minute game averages out to one touchdown every 10 minutes of game time. This helps us visualize what the line of 42 means.What Is Over And Under In Football Betting Today
Over time, you’ll develop a greater feel for what the individual total score numbers mean, and you’ll be able to connect these abstract numbers with a tangible intuition about how offensively intense or how defensively stolid a given game must be in order to yield the total score that you see odds-makers list. This skill takes time and practice to develop, but it’s absolutely vital to turning a profit with O/U bets.
Even though there are a large number of statistically beefy betting systems available for picking total score over/under bets, the truth of the matter is that finding good value requires combining together a host of different factors – there is no magic formula. In simple terms, you are trying to find a situation in which you believe the outcome has low risk, but you also find the odds have high potential reward.What Is Over 0.5 In Football Betting
